Smith & Nephew Iodosorb IODOSORB is a unique antimicrobial dressing made of cadexomer smart micro-beads: spherical starch structures loaded with 0.9% elemental iodine. IODOSORB is indicated for use in hard to heal chronic exuding wounds such as: venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, and other difficult-to-treat wounds. The 0.9% elemental iodine present in IODOSORB has been shown to be effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE), and other multi-drug resistant organisms. The cadexomer micro-beads are also effective at drawing wound exudate and inflammatory mediators away from the wound bed, promoting healing. IODOSORB is latex free, and can be used on patients of all ages.
